VoltBox, Portable Battery
01The problem
Morocco's electric scooter infrastructure suffers from a significant lack of public charging ports, limiting the practicality and range confidence of electric scooter users. Riders often have no reliable way to recharge on the go, which discourages adoption and restricts the everyday usability of electric scooters as a mobility solution.
02What I did
I designed VoltBox, a portable power bank built specifically for electric scooters, to give riders an on-the-go charging solution independent of fixed infrastructure. I built a complete 3D model in SolidWorks to evaluate component packaging, battery placement, and overall usability, while carefully balancing energy storage capacity against weight, safety, and ease of use to keep the device compact and easy to carry.
03Result
VoltBox was selected as a finalist in the first edition of the CMC Trophy, where I presented it before industry professionals, institutional representatives, and entrepreneurship stakeholders, with the jury notably including the Honorary Consul of the Netherlands in Morocco. The project validated a practical approach to solving a real infrastructure gap in Moroccan electric mobility, and the experience gave me hands-on exposure to innovation showcases, project presentation, and real-world product development, reinforcing my interest in applying mechanical design to sustainable transportation challenges.
