Hybrid Turbo-Compressor System
01The problem
A fixed single-stage turbo-compressor locks you into one pressure/flow compromise. Plants with fluctuating load run oversized and waste energy, or undersized and bottleneck. The brief: prove a motor-assisted hybrid layout, packaging, and materials before any hardware is cut.
02What I did
Mapped compressor configurations and defined the operating envelope. Built the full SolidWorks assembly, housings, impeller, motor, bearings, couplings, checking fit, access, and thermal separation at each stage. Chose materials by duty (temperature, wear, corrosion) and produced manufacturing drawings of the housings and rotating parts.
03Result
A fully modeled assembly with justified materials and drawings, showing how motor assist widens the efficient operating window. If I did it again: spend more time on bearing and coupling selection and thermal clearance, it reads small in a model and decides everything in a running machine.
